Since last Sat night his body is warm to the touch. The forehead themometer shows a reading of 38.
Feb him the paracetamol which he got for his injections.
Sunday morning, still warm but behaviour is as per normal. Still comtemplating to bring him to doctor or not.
Sunday night, he is showing signs of lethargic, quickly bring him to the GP at the Buangkok. Ear temperature is 38.9.
Dignosis is throat infection.
We also bought the ear themometer as the forehead thermometer does not looks too reliable.
The fever keeps yoyoing up and down. After taking the Brufen fever medicine, the fever will go down, but after the medicine wear off, it will go up again. At night the fever is still at 38.9!!
Gosh, this is the 1st time he got fever for no obverse reason.
He does have fever after injections but normally it will subside after 1 day.
Tuesday morning brought him to PD, the nure use the traditional method of putting the themometer at the armpit, reading is 38.
PD says it throat infection and its quite bad(GP dignose is correct). He mention that the fever is to fight the infection, the tempreature reading is not that crucial, as long as the behavious is normal(can eat, drink milk, sleep, play) its fine.
He says that if this kind of infection but there is no fever then he will be worried as it means that his body is not capable to fight the infection.
So afterall the fever is not a bad thing afterall.
He mentions this kind of fever will usually take 3-5 days to subside, if by friday, there is still fever then we have to bring him back again.
Have to make sure he drinks lots of water.

My baby has a high temperature. Should I worry?
It's hard not to worry when your baby is crying and her temperature is soaring, but fever rarely does harm. A fever is simply the elevation of the body's temperature above normal and is part of your child's defence against infection. Fevers are usually not dangerous, but there are a small number of children who do get very poorly very quickly. Fever is more serious in a young baby under six months.
Why do people get fevers?
Fever is part of the body's way of fighting infection. Macrophages, the "clean-up" cells of the body, are constantly on patrol. When they find something that doesn't belong - such as a virus, bacterium or fungus - they mop up as much as they can. At the same time, they call for help, signalling to the brain to raise the body's temperature.
The heat kills some types of bacteria directly. It also seems to speed up the body's production of white blood cells and chemicals that kill germs. Babies often get fevers after receiving immunisations.
Babies and children get feverish for lots of reasons and usually the cause is unknown. It's a normal part of growing up!
Common reasons for feverish illness include:
• colds
• flu
• sore throats
• ear infections
• respiratory illness (like pneumonia)
• croup
• viral illnesses
• urinary tract infections
