Today is baby didi 1st pd review.
He is weighing 3.75kg now. A good weight gain of 0.5kg in 1 week(his weight was 3.22kg at discharge)
His 1 week development is fine except for the jaundice level.
The PD was not worried at all as he is consider an 'old' baby at 8 days old and that the jaundice level should come down already.
But we are still worried so we went ahead with the blood test and the result is 298(even higher then baby ze at day 5).
But the PD still insist that its alright and nothing worrying.
ehh..but being parents......so the PD gave us two choices, we can either bring him back for another blood test tomorrow(to check that its going down) or we can rent the machine and phototherapy him ourself.
She mention that she don't like to admit baby as it is not good for baby to separate from mummy and the kind of bed she recommend still allow baby eyes movement without having to wear the eye shield. The bed is from PEP (http://www.babyphototherapy.com/pepbed.html)
She also said that since the level is so high, it will take at least 3-4 weeks before the level will go down.
Ok, since she say like that, then we rent the bed home and do it ourself.
(But on hindsight, we should have requested for baby didi to be admited so that he can have professional care and also the bill can be paid by medisave)
Lets hope after 3 days of phototherapy, the jaundice will go down to an acceptable level when we bring him for another blood test next monday.
